Travel Suggestions

Attendants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. For those traveling from abroad, the following suggestions on ground transportation may be helpful.

Ground Transportation to Oxford

 By Rail

From London airports there are direct rail links to London
Heathrow – to Paddington Station where you can take another train direct to Oxford.
Gatwick – to Victoria Station, from where you need to travel to Paddington Station for Oxford.

Connections to the London Underground system are also available.

By Coach

In the UK a “coach” is a bus designed for longer journeys. The term “bus” refers to local public transport. The Oxford Bus Company runs express coaches from both airports. Detailed schedules and fare information are available here.

If you need accommodation when you arrive at Gatwick please refer to:

From London City

If you are coming into London, there are frequent coach connections to Oxford from by Victoria rail station. The “Oxford Tube” (not to be confused with the “tube” London underground system) departs from just alongside Victoria Rail Station, and at other stops through London. For detailed schedules and prices, see this page.

All coaches to Oxford have intermediate stops and terminate at the coach station in town (Gloucester Green).

Getting to Keble College in Oxford

Keble College is on the north side of the Town Centre and half a mile from Gloucester Green bus/coach station and one mile from the railway station.

All taxis are metered and the cost could vary from £5 to £7 depending on the time of day and traffic conditions.

The bus routes from the railway station are the S7 (every 30 minutes) or 14 (every 20 minutes). These stop at the Banbury Road/Keble Road bus stop, from which it is a 0.2 mile walk to the college lodge.

From the Gloucester Green bus/coach station, to catch a bus, you need to walk to the George Street bus stop (stop A5) outside the ‘Banana tree’ restaurant, and can there catch the S7 or 14, same as above.
